The Growlers Arms Opens Tonight In Oakland
The Growlers Arms, the English-style tavern in Oakland neighborhood debuts tonight, October 31.
From husband and wife Bay Area restaurant vets Seamus and Shelley Mulhall, Growlers, which replaces Marzano on Glenview’s Park Avenue, plans a menu of upscale English pub fare in the mode of the new breed of Michelin-worthy taverns that have flourished in recent years in Great Britain. Executive chef Brian Ventura’s menu includes items such as colcannon, bubble and squeak, Lancashire hotpot, and even haggis made from scratch using quality local ingredients.
The Mulhalls, who bring experience from places such as Chez Panisse and Gary Danko, say they were delayed the last few weeks thanks to inspections, but that they’ve finally been cleared to start dinner service—on Halloween. . .
