I first met Christina Leigh at Engage11 in the Cayman Islands – she is such a wonderful, thoughtful, and talented wedding planner that any bride in Oklahoma would be lucky to have her as her wedding planner. Take a look at this beautiful rustic Greek wedding that she planned for Olivia and Bobby.
“When we first started planning our wedding, Bob and I knew we wanted our wedding to reflect us – laid back, fun and comfortable. From small details like wearing my great grandmother’s gold ID bracelet to bringing some Texas country to our reception celebrating Bob’s South Texas roots, We also wanted to weave in and celebrate our family’s traditions as well as our make our own. Our ceremony took place at my childhood church and was a rich, deeply symbolic traditional Greek Orthodox wedding. You could hear a pin drop in the church as my grandmother sang the Lord’s Prayer to our guest to start the ceremony. Following our bridesmaids, groomsmen and my nieces in the cutest deep yellow tutus, my father walked me down the aisle to my future husband. And I couldn’t stop smiling. The perfect husband and the perfect wedding is any girl’s dream and my dream was coming true at that moment.
After the ceremony, we all loaded up to head to the reception. At this point we were all ready to cut loose and celebrate. We were the first one’s to arrive at Five Oaks Lodge and when I saw my vision of our reception come to life, it literally took my breath away. It was perfect! From the big wooden harvest tables and delicate floral to the ribbon wall and chalkboard list for reception seating, it was amazing! Bob got the party started by beheading the first bottle of champagne with a saber and cocktails were served on the rambling deck that overlooked a peaceful lake. A magnificent Mediterranean meal was served, complete with baklava made by my grandmother and aunts. Our first dance was magical and there wasn’t a dry eye in the room. Toasts brought laughter, tears of joy and wonderful memories. And then the lodge erupted in traditional Greek dancing.. and the Cotton-Eyed Joe..and everything in between. Heels were kicked off, ties were loosened and the dance floor was packed until the final minutes of the night. We wanted a joyous celebration with our friends and family and we got all of that in spades.
Our day was perfect thanks to our wonderful vendors and planner. Christina Clayton coordinated our wedding with ease and didn’t miss a single detail when bringing our vision to life. Five Oaks Lodge was the perfect setting for our rustic and laid back reception. The French Bouquet made the most beautiful and fun centerpieces and my bouquet was to die for. Tim Fitzgerald create a meal that people are still talking about and Icing on the Top made the most delicious cake. Lisa Dunham of LSD Photography and Aaron Snow of Aaron Snow Photography captured the joy and happiness of the day perfectly. Thank you to our families, friends and wonderful wedding vendors for making dreams come true and making our wedding the best party ever!”
