I just made this turkey chili recipe for dinner tonight and it was an absolute hit with my family! The recipe was adapted from Jamie’s Chili. I would have made it exactly as the recipe called for, but I only had ground turkey and the husband despises beans. I also made my own chili seasoning.
Ingredients
1 pound ground turkey
2 tbsp olive or grapeseed oil
2 tsp. cumin
1 medium onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced
2 cups celery, diced
4 14.5 ounce cans diced tomatoes
7 tsp chili seasoning
Chili Seasoning
4 tsp chili powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 tbsp onion powder
2 tsp white sugar
2 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp salt
1 tsp dried basil
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
Combine all the ingredients together and it’s ready to use.
In a large skillet, brown the turkey, drain, and set aside. Add the onion, green pepper and celery to a 6 quart pot and sauté 5 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and ground cumin. Cook for 10 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Add browned turkey and chili seasoning. The original recipe said to cover and simmer for 4 hours, but since my husband was on the verge of starvation, I only simmered it for only 30 minutes and it was absolutely delicious! Top with cheddar cheese and sour cream. Bon appetit!
